The Brandeis MAT program equips you to create meaningful change in diverse educational settings.
Our rigorous one-year curriculum enables you to obtain a master's degree, an initial Massachusetts teaching license (elementary or subject-specific secondary), plus optional certifications in Moderate Disabilities or English as a Second Language. You'll secure employment too - 100% of Brandeis MAT graduates land teaching positions immediately after completing the program. Your academic work combines seamlessly with a full-year student-teaching placement in urban public schools, suburban districts, or Jewish day schools.
As an MAT candidate, you'll become part of a passionate, intellectually curious community of future educators. You'll collaborate to implement foundational concepts - including equity, justice, cognitive development, and differentiated instruction - into everyday teaching practice. The program culminates with a Teacher Research project, where you'll conduct systematic inquiry into your classroom's teaching and learning processes.
