The combined Master of Arts program in Anthropology and Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies (WGS) enables students to explore anthropological studies with a specialized focus on gender, sexuality, and women's issues. This interdisciplinary curriculum delivers foundational knowledge in both anthropology and gender studies, while prioritizing cross-cultural analysis, advanced research methodologies, and ethnographic field studies. Students may complete this joint master's program as a standalone degree or alongside a PhD in anthropology.
Participants work directly with Brandeis anthropology professors and WGS faculty from various disciplines across the university. The anthropology department excels in multiple areas including gender and sexuality studies, economic anthropology, global studies, linguistic anthropology, digital culture, medical anthropology, and religious practices. The program offers regional expertise in Latin America, North America, Africa, East Asia, and South Asia. Brandeis WGS scholars and graduates remain at the forefront of global feminist research and academic discourse.
