To tackle the globe's most urgent challenges, simply studying political science or international relations won't suffice. You must examine these issues through economic, historical, social, and cultural lenses as well. The International and Global Studies (IGS) Program operates on the principle that a genuinely interdisciplinary method is essential to gain the understanding required to comprehend – and potentially resolve – the complexities of our interconnected world.
Whether pursuing an IGS major or minor, you'll begin with an introductory course in international and global studies, followed by three foundational courses in anthropology, economics, and international relations. Additionally, you'll select from various electives across campus departments, ranging from fine arts to French, environmental studies to sociology, and women's, gender, and sexuality studies to history.
IGS graduates often enter fields like diplomacy, investment banking, international nonprofit work, and education. Others continue their education in law, public administration, business, medicine, or advanced studies in international relations, anthropology, and related social sciences.
