The honors program consists of two consecutive semesters (ANTH 99a, Senior Research in fall, then ANTH 99b, Senior Thesis in spring) where chosen senior anthropology students conduct independent research and compose a thesis. Anthropology majors must participate in this program to graduate with Honors, High Honors, or Highest Honors.

Honors candidates need to finish 10 semester courses for the anthropology major, which must include ANTH 99a and ANTH 99b. Writing an honors thesis often stands out as one of the most fulfilling academic experiences for Brandeis undergraduates.
