The Human Development and Family Science (HDFS) undergraduate program adopts a comprehensive life-span approach within a family-oriented framework. Recognized by the National Council on Family Relations (NCFR), this degree qualifies graduates for the Certified Family Life Educator (CFLE) certification. Coursework covers societal family structures, relationship dynamics, family systems, developmental psychology, sexual health, financial management in families, parenting strategies, legal aspects of family policy, ethical considerations, and educational approaches for family life. Special attention is given to the interconnected environments of children, families, educational institutions, and communities to foster deep comprehension of personal and familial development.
This program equips students for careers in parent education, community support initiatives, youth programs, social services, senior care organizations, and child welfare advocacy. Additionally, it provides strong foundations for pursuing graduate studies in HDFS and related disciplines.
