The Bachelor of Science in Gerontology equips graduates for careers in organizations that provide and manage services for elderly populations, such as senior centers, meal programs, long-term care facilities, recreational and counseling services, research institutions, and social service providers.
Along with foundational general education, the gerontology curriculum offers flexibility, allowing students to tailor their coursework to align with specific career paths in the aging field.
Gerontology students choose a specialization from disciplines like administration, biology, healthcare, human resources, psychology, recreation, or sociology. These focus areas are developed collaboratively between students and their academic advisors. Those following the standard gerontology track can complete their degree in eight semesters if they start the program as first-year students or early in their second year.
