BGSU's Ceramics program immerses students in diverse techniques and creative processes that foster artistic development and innovative thinking. Learners explore the vibrant heritage of ceramic arts while mastering aesthetic principles, conceptual depth, technical skill, and professional standards to cultivate their distinct creative voices. The studio environment prioritizes collaborative learning and community engagement, with numerous chances for students to take leadership roles. Emerging ceramic artists gain hands-on experience in all studio operations, including clay and glaze preparation as well as kiln firing.
Undergraduate students can earn ceramics-focused degrees through either a BFA in Studio Art, BFA in Art Education, or BA in Studio Art. All participants complete an advanced professional practices course in their final year. The ceramics curriculum prepares graduates to launch their artistic careers, equipping them with essential studio management skills and a strong foundation for continued artistic exploration.
