The Film Studies Major provides students with a comprehensive understanding of cinema history, artistic expression, and analytical techniques that explore worldwide and cultural viewpoints. Those pursuing this major gain specialized skills in evaluating both the broader film industry and specific cinematic works. Graduates are equipped for professional paths in media criticism, event coordination for festivals, movie procurement and marketing, as well as entertainment law after further specialized education. Alumni have successfully entered advanced programs in film theory and initiated digital platforms focused on motion picture arts and media studies.

Qualification Requirements
For admission to Bowling Green State University, a freshman applicant must:
Be a graduate of a senior high school approved or accredited by the department of education of the state in which it is located, OR
Have earned high school equivalency through the General Educational Development (GED) testing program (issued by the state department of education), OR
Present GED test results and ACT or SAT test results, if the student completed secondary education through an alternative program such as home schooling, OR
Present an international baccalaureate diploma or certificate.
Admission is selective. In general, we require a high school record that includes four units each of English and mathematics, three units each of science and social studies, two units of a foreign language, and one unit of visual or performing arts.
An applicant is considered for admission on the basis of four criteria:

Cumulative grade point average
Official ACT or SAT results
Class rank
You've never attended college or all your college credits were earned prior to high school graduation (College Credit Plus or dual-enrollment)
