BGSU's Ceramics program immerses students in diverse techniques and creative processes that foster artistic development. Learners explore the vibrant heritage of ceramic arts while mastering aesthetic principles, conceptual depth, technical skills, and professional standards to cultivate their distinct creative voices. The studio environment prioritizes collaborative learning and teamwork, with ample chances for students to take initiative. Emerging ceramic artists engage in all aspects of studio operations, including clay preparation, glaze mixing, and kiln firing.
Undergraduate options include ceramic studies through a BFA in Studio Art, Art Education, or a BA in Studio Art. All students complete an advanced professional practices course. The ceramics curriculum prepares graduates to launch their artistic careers, equipping them with studio management capabilities and the academic groundwork for advanced studies.
