Boston University's Clinical Research programs are designed to support healthcare professionals involved in all aspects of patient-focused studies. We provide both master's degree and certificate options for those pursuing careers in clinical research within academic or industry environments.

Our STEM-designated Master's in Clinical Research program equips students with the scientific foundations of human studies. The curriculum thoroughly examines essential clinical research components such as: study design, trial administration, statistical analysis, ethical considerations, and regulatory compliance. Additional coursework explores how scientific breakthroughs evolve into clinical studies and innovative treatments. The program requires 32 credit hours total: 22 mandatory credits (including practicum and research components) plus 10 elective credits. Participants will engage in a research practicum, gaining direct experience with clinical studies under expert supervision. The degree culminates with conducting original research, composing, and presenting a capstone project.

Students can pursue the MSCR program either full-time or part-time. Most classes are scheduled in late afternoon or evening hours to suit working professionals. Full-time students can finish all coursework within one year across four semesters (including both summer sessions). Practicum and capstone project timelines are customized for each student's schedule.
