The Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) program caters to graduates specializing in world languages or those with comparable academic backgrounds. This program is ideal for individuals seeking initial teaching certification in Arabic, French, Mandarin Chinese, or Spanish for middle and high school levels (grades 5-12) within Massachusetts. (While many states offer licensure reciprocity, prospective students should verify requirements for their intended state of residence.) The MAT can be completed as an intensive 12-month full-time program starting in either June or September, or alternatively pursued part-time over an extended duration.

Participants engage with coursework covering educational theory, language learning processes, and world language teaching methods. The curriculum also includes hands-on experience through pre-practicum training and a student-teaching practicum.
