The Boston University Wheelock College of Education & Human Development provides a Graduate Certificate program designed for post-baccalaureate students seeking Initial Licensure in English Education for Grades 5-12. Successful participants will gain the foundational knowledge and teaching skills required to begin their careers as English educators in middle and high school settings.
This English Education program incorporates the Massachusetts Professional Standards for Teaching and utilizes the Candidate Assessment of Performance rubric to assess teacher readiness during and after the practicum experience. Coursework aligns with these standards, and we evaluate overall readiness through practicum observations, state licensure exams, and assignment performance.
