This Doctor of Science in Dentistry program admits a select group of dedicated students seeking to develop specialized research skills. The curriculum prepares graduates for leadership positions in academia, scientific investigation, and healthcare policy.
Applicants must hold a four- or six-year Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study (CAGS) in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery from a US-accredited institution or comparable international program. This three-year minimum program does not include clinical practice in oral and maxillofacial surgery.
Enrolled students must actively engage in their advisor's laboratory research, gaining hands-on experience by executing specific protocols for their dissertation projects. Beyond mastering technical skills, the program teaches students to design research methodologies, connect approaches to existing literature, interpret findings, and effectively present results. Participants learn to construct testable hypotheses, develop experimental procedures, and produce professional manuscripts and funding proposals.
The Doctor of Science degree requires a minimum three-year commitment from all candidates.
