The MD/PhD dual degree program is a collaboration between Boston University's Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine and Graduate Medical Sciences (GMS). This rigorous curriculum targets exceptionally motivated students pursuing careers that bridge medical practice and scientific investigation. The program's objective is to deliver comprehensive research training in medical sciences alongside clinical medical education. While most participants typically select basic medical science disciplines for their PhD specialization, the program maintains flexibility in academic focus. Graduates will emerge with the interdisciplinary expertise needed for modern medical research and teaching, as well as the foundational scientific knowledge to excel in clinical residencies and translational research.
Completion of both the MD and PhD degrees typically spans seven to eight years of intensive study.
