The Advanced Orthodontic Training Program aims to develop skilled professionals capable of practicing orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics. This 36-month combined MSD and certificate program meets the educational standards set by the American Dental Association's Council on Dental Education and Licensure while fulfilling the requirements for a Master of Science in Dentistry. The program allocates roughly half its duration to clinical practice, with the remaining time dedicated to lectures, seminars covering orthodontic-related basic sciences and clinical topics, along with research components. Earning the master's degree involves completing a research project, defending it, and producing a manuscript suitable for publication.
The program's primary objective is to train students to become proficient clinicians capable of effectively assessing and managing dentofacial abnormalities.
Special focus areas include craniofacial growth patterns, cephalometric analysis, biomechanical principles, occlusal relationships, and neuromuscular physiology.
The curriculum fulfills both the educational prerequisites and provides the necessary clinical experience for American Board of Orthodontics examinations.
Program Objectives
Graduates will emerge as capable practitioners, showcasing evidence-based diagnostic and treatment planning skills along with technical proficiency.
Students will develop critical thinking abilities to assess scientific literature, enabling them to conduct hypothesis-driven research culminating in a thesis.
Participants will gain expertise in managing patients across all age groups.
