The Bachelor of Science in Health Studies and Doctor of Physical Therapy program prepares graduates to become skilled clinicians focused on enhancing health and rehabilitating individuals affected by injuries or illnesses. Today's physical therapists are expanding their roles beyond conventional environments, taking on greater responsibilities in patient assessment, therapeutic interventions, healthcare management, staff supervision, education, consulting, and clinical research. The curriculum addresses these evolving professional demands by emphasizing: a robust grounding in fundamental sciences, integration of applied scientific principles, adherence to ethical standards, dedication to professional values, and the cultivation of effective communication, innovative problem-solving, and efficient treatment administration skills.
Students gain hands-on experience through supervised clinical rotations at various facilities, offering exposure to diverse physical therapy specialties and work environments. Partner institutions are situated throughout the Boston region and nationwide. Clinical placement opportunities depend on coordination between the program's clinical education directors and individual sites. Participants should anticipate additional expenses for housing and transportation during each clinical rotation.
