The Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies offers an Asian Studies major for College of Arts & Sciences students. This program concentrates on East and South Asia while also covering Central Asia, Southeast Asia, and Pacific Rim nations. Students gain interdisciplinary, comparative insights into Asian societies, exploring how communities, governments, and regions have evolved, operated, and perceived themselves globally. The flexible curriculum allows customization based on individual interests, whether specializing in specific countries or examining cross-border themes like cultural exchange, security, or economic growth.
Graduates pursue advanced degrees or careers in government, NGOs, and business sectors. The program requires five terms of language study (Chinese, Hindi, Japanese, Korean, or Urdu), building professional-level linguistic and cultural skills. Students develop balanced expertise in humanities and social sciences while critically examining their perspectives on this diverse region's global role.
