This two-year program consists of ten courses (30 credits total). Participants must complete at least one course in three out of the four Political Science disciplines: American Politics, Comparative Politics, International Politics, and Political Theory. Each semester, students enroll in three courses.
The program permits two courses from other departments. Graduation requirements include passing a comprehensive exam covering two subfields. Alternatively, thesis candidates complete eight courses and are exempt from the written exam. Students may also opt for Advanced Directive Study (ADS) with faculty supervision instead of a thesis or exam. ADS involves developing a seminar paper into an in-depth final project.
