The General Biology concentration offers students maximum course selection flexibility. Ideal for those undecided about future plans or wanting to explore diverse biology fields, this track allows choosing any 3000-level or higher biology elective to fulfill degree requirements. These courses can satisfy medical school prerequisites, prepare for research/teaching careers, or provide scientific knowledge applicable to various professions including business, public health, and law. This concentration serves as the default option for students not pursuing specialized tracks like Microbiology, Cell Biology and Development, Physiology and Organismal Biology, or Genetics and Genomics. All courses from these specialized concentrations (except biostatistics) count toward the General Biology requirements.
