The Perspectives on Spanish America Interdisciplinary Major (9 courses) serves as an optional second major for Elementary Education students in the School of Education, meeting their College of Arts and Sciences major requirement for certification. Note: Secondary Education students cannot combine this major with their certification program.

This program is ideal for students with a minimum of two years of high school Spanish who want to enhance their language abilities while gaining knowledge of Spanish American cultural history, sociology, and literature. It's especially suitable for those planning to teach in communities with Hispanic populations.
