The English concentration builds on foundational skills introduced in the College Writing and Literary Works core courses. This program emphasizes refining these essential English competencies as its primary objective. By mastering these technical abilities and establishing a solid linguistic foundation, students can effectively apply them across diverse academic and professional fields.
In addition to mandatory coursework, students may choose any four electives. These selections primarily focus on literature courses spanning various historical periods, genres, and including works with non-Western origins. All literature classes share a common focus on cultivating critical analysis skills - a valuable asset applicable across disciplines. Through literary study, students examine core aspects of human existence, gaining profound insight into how literature both mirrors and enriches real-world experiences.
