The MS Economics curriculum caters to two distinct student groups:

1. Professionals seeking immediate career placement. Our alumni have secured positions in consulting firms, financial institutions, government agencies, NGOs, and various organizations across the U.S. and internationally.
2. Students planning to pursue doctoral studies in economics, finance, or related fields. The program has successfully prepared numerous domestic and international students for the transition from undergraduate to PhD-level education.

Qualification Requirements

Personal Essay - Please explain why you wish to pursue graduate studies in economics or information systems, and why you wish to do this at Baylor.
Letters of Recommendation - Letters of recommendation provide additional information regarding your abilities and should be obtained from two individuals who know you well and can present balanced evaluations and assessments. One letter of recommendation is required but Baylor will accept up to three letters.
Transcripts - A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in the United States, or proof of equivalent training at a foreign university, is required. Official transcripts are required for applications to graduate programs in economics before we can begin the evaluation process.
Resume & Cover Letter - A current resume is required, specifically describing those activities, honors, or awards that you believe helpful to ensuring success at Baylor.
A cover letter is optional. Just as you would apply for a professional position, the one-page cover letter would include reasons why you are qualified for a place in the graduate degree program, how your participation will add value to the graduate degree program, or explain any other information useful to the admissions committee.
Standardized Tests - Applicants are required to take either the Graduate Record Examination (GRE, which is preferred) or the Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT).
