Students pursuing careers in government at any level can combine their law studies with a Master of Public Policy and Administration (MPPA) through Baylor University's political science department. This joint program results in earning both a Juris Doctor (JD) and MPPA concurrently. The JD curriculum focuses on identifying, examining, and developing legal resolutions, while the MPPA enhances skills for operating within government systems that address broader public policy challenges. The JD/MPPA program aims to enhance government leaders' capabilities in managing extensive, intricate regulatory or social service initiatives.
Participants earn 12 credit hours toward their JD after fulfilling MPPA requirements and 12 elective credits for the MPPA upon completing Law School courses. Consequently, JD/MPPA candidates complete 114 quarter hours in law and 24 semester hours of graduate studies. Because degrees are granted together, students must satisfy all requirements in both programs to obtain either qualification.
