For students considering careers at the intersection of healthcare and law, the Law School and Robbins MBA Healthcare Program provide a combined degree option that results in earning both a Juris Doctor (JD) and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) with a focus on healthcare management.
The legal aspects of healthcare have grown more specialized, with administrators playing crucial roles in operating hospitals, long-term care facilities, insurance providers, healthcare networks, and policy agencies. This joint program delivers foundational coursework alongside specialized healthcare law studies, enabling students to explore the legal and operational dimensions of healthcare through diverse interdisciplinary viewpoints.
Distinct from most healthcare MBA programs, the Robbins MBA Healthcare Program mandates a nine-month paid Executive Residency with top-tier healthcare institutions. Boasting a perfect placement record, all participants benefit from mentorship by experienced healthcare leaders, gain hands-on administrative experience, and cultivate leadership abilities within real-world healthcare settings.
After fulfilling the MBA-Healthcare Administration requirements, students earn twelve elective credits applicable to their JD. Both degrees are conferred together once all criteria from both schools are satisfied.
The dual JD/MBA program typically takes three and a half to four years to complete. All MBA candidates commence their studies with Business Frameworks - a four-week introductory series covering accounting, finance, Excel, and statistics (one credit hour each). JD/MBA students initiate their business coursework in July, completing this phase by May of the following year.
