The Biology Department at Ball State provides two distinct tracks for its master's program, tailored to different academic and career goals. The Master of Science (MS) program combines advanced graduate-level courses with hands-on research, culminating in a thesis project. This pathway is ideal for students aiming to pursue doctoral studies, though graduates also secure research positions in both public and private organizations. The curriculum integrates graduate coursework with substantial research components, resulting in a thesis. While it primarily prepares students for PhD programs, alumni often enter research roles within government institutions or corporate settings. A minimum of 60% of coursework must be at the 600-level or above.
Students must have a bachelor’s degree from an institution recognized by a regional accrediting association.
Students must have earned a minimum of a 2.75 GPA from the undergraduate degree-granting institution.
