Ball State's master's in counseling provides an adaptable yet rigorous curriculum designed to equip you for a career as a compassionate counseling professional committed to improving lives and fostering social justice. The program features two specialization tracks: clinical mental health counseling or rehabilitation counseling. The clinical mental health track leads to licensure as a mental health counselor. To complete this concentration, students must successfully finish 60 credit hours encompassing counseling and psychology coursework, along with practical training through practica and internships. Graduates meet the qualifications for mental health counselor licensure in Indiana and numerous other states.

Qualification Requirements

To be eligible for admission in the Ball State Graduate School, you must have a bachelor's degree or higher from an institution recognized by a regional accrediting association. Some doctoral and specialist degree programs (but not all) require a master's degree from an institution recognized by a regional accrediting association.
Earned a minimum of a 2.75 GPA from your undergraduate degree-granting institution
Applicants whose GPA falls below the 2.75 minimum may also be eligible for probationary admission
