The School of Music acknowledges the significance of entrepreneurial education in today's musical world. With evolving professional opportunities in the 21st century, musicians now need to cultivate skills to initiate meaningful artistic projects and generate their own career prospects.
This entrepreneurial studies certificate in music offers a supportive space for creative experimentation, where students can build expertise in entrepreneurship, marketing, networking, and grant writing while learning from accomplished professionals. The curriculum combines musical and business training to help students adapt to the growing challenges faced by modern musicians. Available to both undergraduate and graduate candidates, the certificate can be pursued alongside bachelor's or master's programs or as a doctoral supplementary focus.
Designed as a complement to graduate studies, the entrepreneurial music certificate enhances the coursework for Master of Music (MM), Master of Arts (MA), or Artist Diploma students. Applicants must first be admitted to a graduate music program before applying for this certificate. The two-year program involves 17 credit hours of interdisciplinary courses from both the School of Music and Miller College of Business. Graduates will acquire essential business, marketing, management, and entrepreneurial competencies crucial for thriving in today's music industry.
