Ball State's doctoral program in bioenergetics equips students for rewarding research careers in exercise physiology and allied fields. Established in 1981, our program has successfully guided more than 60 graduates into professional research positions within exercise physiology. This research-focused PhD is designed for dedicated students with a profound interest in exercise science and substantial background knowledge in both exercise physiology and fundamental sciences (chemistry and biology). The bioenergetics PhD curriculum comprises 90 graduate credits, with up to 30 credits transferable from a completed master's degree.
You must have a bachelor’s degree from an institution recognized by a regional accrediting association.
Some doctoral programs (but not all) require a master's degree from an institution recognized by a regional accrediting association.
GPA
bachelor's degree – You must have earned a minimum of a 3.0 GPA from the undergraduate degree-granting institution.
master's degree (when required) – You must have earned a minimum of a 3.2 GPA from the master's degree-granting institution.
Required Scores to demonstrate English Proficiency: TOEFL iBT 79; IELTS 6.5 Band; Pearson's PTE 53
You may begin taking courses for our program at the start of the Fall Semester.
Review of application materials and the selection process begins February 1 and continues until positions are filled.
