This interdisciplinary major, offered jointly by Ball State's Economics Department and Department of Mathematical Sciences, creates numerous career pathways, from dual-degree options to advanced graduate studies. The mathematical economics bachelor's program requires a minimum of 120 credit hours across four categories: University Core Curriculum classes, foundational business courses, specialized mathematical economics subjects, and elective courses to complete your education. This curriculum also allows students to combine mathematical economics with actuarial science or mathematical sciences as a double major, or to continue into graduate programs. Graduates have been accepted into prestigious institutions like the University of Minnesota and University of Wisconsin's economics Ph.D. programs, as well as Harvard's Kennedy School of Government. Alumni have pursued legal education at institutions including George Washington University, UCLA, and the University of Alabama, while others have launched careers at J.P. Morgan Chase, the FDIC, Indiana Senate, U.S. House of Representatives, and elite law schools and doctoral programs.
Students should apply as a freshman undergraduate student if:
Students have completed or will complete high school or secondary school before the semester you apply to start
Students have not attended a university, college, or other postsecondary institution
Students wish to earn a bachelor’s degree
Required Scores to demonstrate English Proficiency: TOEFL iBT 79; IELTS 6.5 Band; Pearson's PTE 53
Dates and Deadlines - International Admissions must receive all your application materials by these dates for consideration for a specific term
Fall Term - application materials due by June 15th
