The Legal Studies Program is ideal for students pursuing careers in the legal field, whether in government, public law, or corporate law sectors. Among over 1,000 paralegal programs nationwide, Ball State's stands out as one of fewer than 300 accredited by the American Bar Association. Legal Studies students explore diverse practice areas such as family law, civil and criminal litigation, dispute resolution, constitutional law, criminal justice, administrative law, and corporate law. The curriculum blends theoretical knowledge with hands-on training to build a solid professional foundation, making it particularly valuable for those planning to attend law school. This degree combines the University Core Curriculum with specialized legal studies courses, followed by concentration-specific classes in either Public Law or Business Law. All majors complete an internship working alongside legal professionals. For those drawn to government, politics, or policy-making, the Public Law track offers comprehensive coursework examining law's role in public affairs.
