The Legal Studies Program is ideal for students pursuing careers in the legal field, spanning government roles, public law, and corporate law sectors. Among over 1,000 paralegal programs nationwide, Ball State's stands out as one of fewer than 300 programs accredited by the American Bar Association. Legal Studies students explore diverse practice areas such as family law, civil and criminal litigation, dispute resolution, constitutional law, criminal justice, administrative regulations, and corporate legal matters. The curriculum blends theoretical knowledge with hands-on training to build a robust professional foundation. This major also serves as exceptional preparation for those planning to attend law school. Alongside the University Core Curriculum, students complete a shared core of legal studies credits before specializing in either Public Law or Business Law tracks. An internship component pairs students with working legal professionals. The Business Law specialization suits those drawn to corporate structures, insurance, financial operations, or law firm management. Coursework thoroughly examines how legal principles shape routine business dealings.
