Our family and child studies program equips you to create meaningful impacts in the lives of children and families. Students can choose among three specialized tracks: child development, family studies, or child life. Upon graduation, you'll be prepared for diverse career paths - from educational and healthcare settings to social service organizations - or ready for advanced academic pursuits. The child development track focuses on working with young children from infancy through early childhood and their families. Graduates qualify for roles as educators, program directors, family support specialists, early interventionists, or mentors in preschools, childcare facilities, Head Start programs, or home-based care environments. Master foundational child development theories and their practical application. Learn to analyze research methodologies and core concepts in child development, then implement these findings in real-world settings. Develop professional ethics and standards of conduct. Hone effective verbal and written communication skills for child development contexts, incorporating technology where applicable.
