Ball State's economics program equips students for diverse, challenging careers in business, government, nonprofits, education, law, finance, and beyond. You'll gain deep insights into economic systems and their dynamic responses to change. Our rigorous curriculum offers small classes led by dedicated faculty, an active economics student organization, internship placements, and practical experiences like the Federal Reserve Challenge. Additional learning opportunities arise through collaborations with the John H. Schnatter Institute for Entrepreneurship and Free Enterprise and the Center for Business and Economic Research. The economics bachelor's degree comprises four components: University Core Curriculum, foundational business or liberal arts courses (based on your selected track), specialized economics classes, and electives. We highly encourage all economics students to complete at least one calculus course. The program offers three specialized tracks to align with your professional aspirations: business, financial analyst, and liberal arts concentrations.
