Ball State's musical theater BFA program provides exceptional pre-professional training while maintaining a liberal arts foundation. We aim to develop adaptable, collaborative performers ready to excel in the professional world. Throughout the program, you'll master diverse musical theater styles across different eras. This intensive interdisciplinary option delivers conservatory-level training, featuring personalized voice coaching, weekly master classes, musicianship studies (including theory, sight-reading, piano, and choral work), plus thorough acting and dance instruction. As an undergraduate-exclusive program, you'll enjoy abundant performance opportunities and hands-on learning. Faculty provide regular evaluations through challenging coursework and performance assessments. We emphasize exposure to contemporary works while offering immersive learning experiences and summer program options.
You should apply as a freshman undergraduate student if:
you have completed or will complete high school or secondary school before the semester you apply to start

you wish to earn a bachelor’s degree
