Ball State's directing and stage management track within the BA/BS theatre degree offers undergraduate-focused, career-oriented training embedded in a liberal arts framework. This hands-on program immerses students in practical experience through our vibrant production season starting their first year on campus. You'll encounter varied perspectives while refining collaborative, creative, and leadership abilities across theatrical genres including plays, musicals, dance productions, and original works. This program specifically prepares aspiring directors and stage managers for professional careers. Both directing and stage management students follow customized four-year plans while exploring diverse coursework. The rigorous, practice-based curriculum helps students cultivate their artistic identity while building essential skills in communication, leadership, and teamwork. This production concentration involves completing 62 credit hours plus 33 core curriculum credits and two general electives from the University Core requirements.
