The Legal Studies Program is ideal for students pursuing careers in the legal field, spanning roles in government, public law, and corporate law. Among over 1,000 paralegal programs nationwide, Ball State's stands out as one of fewer than 300 accredited by the American Bar Association. Legal Studies students explore diverse practice areas such as family law, civil and criminal litigation, dispute resolution, constitutional law, criminal justice, administrative law, and corporate law. The curriculum blends legal theory with hands-on training, equipping students with essential skills for professional achievement. This major also serves as a strong preparatory path for future law school applicants.Alongside the University Core Curriculum, students complete foundational legal studies coursework before specializing in either Public Law or Business Law. An internship component allows students to gain real-world experience by working alongside attorneys and paralegals.Those drawn to government, politics, or public policy will find the Public Law track particularly rewarding, as it offers a comprehensive examination of legal frameworks within these spheres.
