Our general history concentration in the history major goes far beyond rote memorization of dates. As a history student, you'll embrace four dynamic roles while exploring the past. This study reveals the richness of diverse cultures, helps understand historical transformations and enduring traditions, develops analytical skills to identify parallels and differences in human experiences, and strengthens communication abilities. History graduates can advance to postgraduate studies or enter various professional fields, as these cultivated skills are universally valued. Potential career paths span law, education, public service, corporate sectors, cultural institutions, publishing, and research. This program leads to either a Bachelor of Arts (BA) or Bachelor of Science (BS) in History with a general history focus. The BA requires two years of foreign language study. Our curriculum offers global historical exploration and culminates in a Senior Research Project. Fulfilling the BA language requirement also prepares you for graduate historical research, where proficiency in multiple languages is crucial for doctoral studies, particularly in non-U.S. history specializations.
