Our family and child studies program equips you to create meaningful impacts in the lives of children and families. Students can choose among three specialized tracks: child development, family studies, or child life. Upon graduation, you'll be prepared for diverse career paths—from healthcare facilities to educational institutions to social service organizations—or ready for advanced academic pursuits. The child development track focuses on working with young children from infancy through early childhood and their families. Graduates qualify for roles as educators, program directors, family support specialists, early intervention therapists, or mentors in preschools, educational initiatives, childcare facilities, Head Start programs, or home-based childcare environments. Master foundational child development theories and their practical applications. Learn to analyze research methodologies and core concepts in child development while implementing evidence-based practices. Develop professional ethics and standards of conduct. Hone effective verbal and written communication skills for child development fields, incorporating technology where applicable.
