Pairing Ball State's biochemistry major with our pre-med track gives you a competitive edge for medical school admission. Whether you pursue medicine or not, our biochemistry curriculum provides strong foundations for careers in biochemical research, industry, or government labs. Through this program, you'll develop essential skills in chemistry, biochemistry, and biological sciences. Biochemistry examines molecular structures and reactions within living systems. Practitioners conduct lab research analyzing cellular components—proteins, lipids, and organelles—and their chemical interactions. This diverse field spans medicine, genetics, microbiology, forensic science, and beyond.
You should apply as a freshman undergraduate student if:
you have completed or will complete high school or secondary school before the semester you apply to start
you have not attended a university, college, or other postsecondary institution
you wish to earn a bachelor’s degree
Required Scores to demonstrate English Proficiency: TOEFL iBT 79; IELTS 6.5 Band; Pearson's PTE 53
