The Marine Biology program equips students with a comprehensive understanding of core biological principles including genetics, ecology, cellular biology, and marine ecosystems, alongside chemistry and mathematics. The curriculum allows students to select from diverse elective courses available at Auburn University. Additionally, summer coursework at renowned marine laboratories across the U.S., such as Dauphin Island Sea Lab and Gulf Coast Research Lab, is mandatory. The program actively promotes participation in internships and undergraduate research projects. Graduates emerge ready for postgraduate studies in marine sciences or careers with marine research facilities, government and nonprofit organizations focused on coastal preservation, and the tourism industry.
