Auburn University's sculpture program offers students a comprehensive education in both classical and modern sculptural techniques. Beginning courses teach three-dimensional conceptualization, fundamental design principles, and hands-on experience with materials like wood and metal through carving, assembly, and welding techniques. As students progress, they experiment with multimedia approaches, develop spatial awareness, and study current sculptural trends. The curriculum emphasizes advanced industrial and digital fabrication methods such as CAD modeling, MIG welding, CNC plasma systems, and precision routing. Students also investigate contemporary sculptural forms including sound installations, light-based works, moving sculptures, and immersive environments.
