The Master of Science program in materials science and engineering emphasizes building strong technical foundations while developing communication skills and professional competencies. The curriculum covers diverse subjects including thermodynamics, material structures and mechanical properties, reaction kinetics, optical and magnetic characteristics, materials analysis techniques, and energy generation and storage solutions. International students may qualify for a 24-month Optional Practical Training extension, which provides valuable U.S. work experience. Prospective applicants should verify STEM-OPT eligibility through ASU's International Students and Scholars Center website.
Note: The OPT extension is exclusively available to F-1 visa holders and doesn't apply to students pursuing degrees via ASU Online.
