The architecture and construction sectors are undergoing rapid transformation, requiring professionals to be better equipped for innovation in a workforce that's significantly more dynamic, multifaceted, and varied compared to two decades ago. Today's architectural practices have broadened beyond traditional design work, venturing into adjacent disciplines that demand more thorough and sophisticated architectural education.
Learners can fulfill accredited architecture degree requirements while obtaining supplementary qualifications through additional master's programs or certificates aligned with their personal goals. This flexibility allows students to combine their studies with complementary fields like construction management, sustainable design, property development, city planning, landscape architecture, interior design, business administration, and more. They may also enroll in parallel programs at ASU covering health sciences, teaching, or creative arts.
Every term features a design studio alongside two supplementary courses covering technical skills, visual communication, architectural heritage, conceptual frameworks, investigative methods, and professional applications. Participants develop designs and construction strategies for financially and environmentally responsible structures and neighborhoods. Their training emphasizes cutting-edge design techniques, digital modeling, inventive construction methods, emerging technologies, plus research into architecture's societal impact and its potential to advance civic discourse and equitable communities.
The curriculum is available through two formats—traditional classroom settings and digital platforms—both leading to the identical professionally accredited architecture qualification recognized by the National Architectural Accrediting Board.
Graduates fulfilling the Master of Architecture requirements and their certificate electives may extend their studies by one year to convert their specialization into a second graduate degree. Those undertaking dual degrees obtain separate qualifications and diplomas, empowering them to effectively follow their unique career ambitions or academic passions.
The Design School's objective is to equip students for career achievement while driving architectural innovation through a focus on location, surroundings, and modern society. This approach reflects the institution's dedication to promoting fairness and ecological responsibility locally, nationally, and globally.
