The PhD program in applied mathematics for life and social sciences equips students with skills to uncover and interpret complex patterns in human health, behavior, and societal interactions, while preparing them to educate future researchers.
Through interdisciplinary guidance from ASU's leading scholars across five schools, students explore innovative applications of computational tools including agent-based modeling, machine learning, GIS, evolutionary algorithms, nonlinear dynamics, stochastic methods, and multiobjective optimization. This training reveals novel insights and establishes new frameworks that highlight the growing demand for quantitatively skilled professionals in these scientific domains.
