The life sciences explore the fundamental structures and functions of living organisms (including microorganisms, plants, and animals) across various scales, from molecular levels to entire ecosystems, and over timeframes spanning from trillionths of seconds to thousands of years. This field examines how genetic information is passed down and species adapt, the relationships between organisms and their surroundings, and how these elements influence health and illness.
Those pursuing a life sciences degree can select a Bachelor of Science in biological sciences or specialize in one of five focus areas:
biology and society
biomedical sciences
conservation biology and ecology
genetics, cell and developmental biology
neurobiology, physiology and behavior
