This concentration emphasizes diagnostic evaluation, mobility training, and specialized instructional approaches for visually impaired learners, incorporating extensive training in adaptive technologies to enhance both academic and life skills development.
The program prepares educators to work effectively with families, general education teachers, and support staff to address the unique requirements of students with visual challenges. Coursework meets rigorous state and national benchmarks, following guidelines established by the Council for Exceptional Children.
From Term 5 onward, instruction occurs through a collaborative partnership with Phoenix's Foundation for Blind Children. Classes are co-taught by FBC specialists and Arizona State University professors, offering students both academic knowledge and hands-on experience in educating individuals with visual disabilities.
