The BAS degree in applied science, specializing in medical laboratory sciences, equips students with both theoretical understanding and practical competencies to enhance career prospects in medical technology, cytology, clinical laboratory science, and similar disciplines.

Clinical laboratory scientists, alternatively called medical laboratory scientists, are expert practitioners conducting diagnostic analyses on bodily samples to generate crucial data for identifying, diagnosing, and managing health conditions. These specialists operate autonomously, applying more extensive and advanced expertise than medical laboratory technicians—who usually complete two-year associate degree programs. Furthermore, medical laboratory scientists are increasingly involved in preventive healthcare through wellness testing initiatives.
