As community-based services expand to ease the strain on emergency healthcare systems, artists are playing an increasingly vital role in delivering social healthcare solutions. This program presents a creative approach to addressing diverse public health challenges while supporting publicly funded arts institutions.
As one of just a few such programs available nationwide, our MA stands out with its strong foundation in artistic practice, featuring dedicated studio spaces within a conventional art school environment.
Participants will explore how artistic interventions in healthcare enhance traditional medical models through comprehensive, patient-focused methods using various art forms (including visual arts, music, theater, design, etc.). Students will gain from our robust partnerships with regional health authorities, county arts administrators, and nonprofit groups for impactful practical experiences.
Developed in collaboration with Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board's Arts in Health and Wellbeing coordinator, who serves as program advisor, this course also benefits from the guidance of two nationally recognized arts-in-health researchers who provide strategic vision and national exposure for the program.
