Our department has recently developed expertise in mental health research. This innovative field explores diverse populations and conditions through various methodologies including functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI), electroencephalography (EEG), behavioral experiments, surveys, and clinical interviews.
Key studies have focused on emotion management and cognitive processing in stroke patients with aphasia, the relationship between sleep quality and mental health through thought suppression mechanisms, and connections between body image concerns during pregnancy and maternal-fetal bonding.
Current investigations include therapeutic approaches for trauma in at-risk women and juvenile offenders, emotional well-being in autism spectrum disorders and other neurodevelopmental conditions, caregiver mental health, eating disorder risk factors related to body image, digital social prescribing via mobile apps, and psychological effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.
