Our faculty's wide-ranging research expertise enables us to provide supervision across all literary periods, from medieval to contemporary works, encompassing both English and non-English language texts, as well as translated literature.
We offer unique strengths in practice-based education and scholarship, particularly in archival studies and printing techniques. The English and Related Literature PhD program offers flexible full-time or part-time enrollment options.
With your supervisor's mentorship, you'll develop an 80,000-word dissertation. Each semester typically involves extensive independent study, complemented by regular supervisory meetings to discuss progress and refine your approach. Depending on your project's needs, you may conduct research at archives or international locations.
During your studies, you'll access diverse research training workshops to develop archival and investigative skills, along with seminar series featuring global scholars. Internal funding opportunities exist for students proposing academic conferences or symposiums.
